Kawakubing

Just a quick one before I go to work: I couldn't find the Comme de Garçons for H&M TV commercial, but I found this sort of official video presentation, not that it matters much anymore because there's nothing left in the stores, haha... you can see all the previous H&M "guest designers" campaigns here.

So who do you think is next? My bets are Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood or Martin Margiela, but they will probably surprise us.

Uno rapidito antes de irme a trabajar: no encontré el anuncio de Comme des Garçond para H&M, pero encontré esta especie de video-presentación oficial, no es que tenga ya mucha importancia porque no queda nada en las tiendas, jaja... podéis ver las campañas anteriores de los "diseñadores invitados" de H&M aquí.

¿Quién pensáis que será el siguiente? Yo apuesto por Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood o Martin Margiela, pero seguro que nos sorprenden.

Cruel, me?

The fascinating Itzel Bunchen "acuses" me of being metaphysical lately, so let's talk a bit about fashion... as Haquiles quoted, I think fashion in itself is not frivolous, but most of the people who work in it certainly are, and somehow this shallowness permeates fashion itself and influences us. The other day I was talking with a friend and I said something like "well, Armani is soooo boring", so he looked at me and said "do you realize you just made a very cruel comment?". Obviously he doesn't know many people who work in fashion, because I am a little lamb, but I guess we get used to judge things that way, as Chanel said "Fashion is cruel because it dies young", or maybe it wasn't "cruel" and it was something else... 

Anyways, I went to H&M yesterday afternoon to see if there was anything left from the Comme des Garçons collection... well there wasn't much, but I bought a pair of nice canvas plimsoles and a light blue shirt, but I'm not sure if I'm not going to return it because I didn't try it on until I got home, and I don't know if it's supposed to be oversize or what.

(The pretty model in the picture is Alexandra Tretter, from Christian Dior's couture show, it's sort of visionary from Galliano to use this 20's influence, with the crisis and all that.)

La fascinante Itzel Bunchen me "acusa" de estar muy metafísico últimamente, así que hablemos un poco de moda... como citó Haquiles, creo que la moda en sí no es frívola, pero la mayoría de la gente que trabaja en ella ciertamente lo es, y de alguna manera esta superficialidad lo impregna todo y nos influencia. El otro día hablaba con un amigo y dije algo como "bueno, es que Armani es taaaan aburrido", se me quedó mirando y me dijo "¿te das cuenta que acabas de hacer un comentario muy cruel?". Obviamente no conoce mucha gente que se dedique a la moda, porque yo soy un corderillo, pero supongo que nos acostumbramos a juzgar las cosas de esa manera, como dijo Chanel "la Moda es cruel porque muere joven", o a lo mejor no era "cruel" y era otra cosa...

En todo caso ayer estuve en H&M por la tarde a ver qué quedaba de la colección de Comme des Garçons... poca cosa la verdad, pero me compré unas bonitas zapatillas de lona y una camisa celeste, pero no estoy seguro de si no la voy a devolver, porque no me la probé hasta llegar a casa y no sé si se supone que es "oversize" o qué. 

(La guapa modelo de la foto es Alexandra Tretter, en el desfile de alta costura de Christian Dior, es como visionario por parte de Galliano, usar esa influencia de los años 20's, con la crisis y todo.)

The Golden Age

Haquiles came to visit and took good care of me, I'm not completely recovered from my cold but at least I'm back to work. Anyhow, we spent a nice week-end,  we went to see the exhibition about the Etruscans at the CaixaForum, very interesting, beautiful jewels and sculptures, somehow when a civilization leaves so little written records it has the aura of a lost Golden Age. The picture is of the "Triclinium Room", which was reproduced in the 1830's by an Italian artist, and it reminds me of Plato's "Symposium", where among a lot of wine drinking friendship and the nature of love are endlessly discussed. Times of change like those we are living sometimes bring these philosophical moods, so on one hand I follow ladybug's Zazen advice and go with the flow of things, and on the other I practice empathy, because to understand another's hopes and fears is ultimately to understand oneself.

Haquiles vino a verme y me estuvo cuidando, no estoy del todo recuperado del resfriado pero ya estoy de vuelta al trabajo. En todo caso, hemos pasado un buen fin de semana, fuimos a ver la exposición sobre los Etruscos en el CaixaForum, muy interesante, preciosas joyas y esculturas, de algún modo cuando una civilización deja tan pocos testimonios escritos adquiere el aura de una Edad de Oro perdida. La foto es de la "Habitación del Triclinio", reproducida en los años 1830 por un artista italiano, y me recuerda al "Banquete" de Platón, donde entre numerosas copas de vino se debate sobre la amistad y la naturaleza del amor. Tiempos de cambio como los que vivimos propician los pensamientos filosóficos, así que por un lado sigo el consejo Zazen de ladybug y me dejo llevar por la corriente, y por el otro practico la empatía, porque comprender las ilusiones y los temores de otro es en última instancia comprenderse uno mismo.
